According to Xinhua News Agency, officials from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Customs and Border Protection Agency disclosed data to the U.S. Court of International Trade on the 4th that the U.S. Customs has refunded approximately $100 billion in tariffs previously collected under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said they have accepted applications for tariff refunds of more than $128 billion. Currently, the refund amounts to about 60 percent of the $165 billion in tariffs that the Trump administration imposed under the bill.

According to a U.S. Supreme Court ruling in February, the International Emergency Economic Powers Act does not authorize the president to impose large-scale tariffs. The U.S. Court of International Trade then ordered Customs to process the refund. Customs and Border Protection began the first phase of refund processing on April 20, and the first refunds were distributed around May 11.
