Justice Department: International Criminal Court has no jurisdiction over Americans
On the 2nd, the U.S. Department of Justice issued a statement saying that Acting Attorney General Todd Boulanger has written to International Criminal Court President Meguru Akamatsu, rejecting the court’s assertion of jurisdiction over U.S. nationals.

The statement said that the United States is not a party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court and has never recognized the Court’s jurisdiction. Going forward, the United States will not cooperate with the International Criminal Court in any investigations, inquiries, summonses, or judicial proceedings, nor will it extradite or transfer any U.S. nationals to the Court.
In the letter, Blanche said that the ICC's actions "increasingly lack legitimacy and legitimacy", and alleged that the ICC has a record of "selective enforcement" and there are "credible claims" that there was internal misconduct.
On June 24, three female judges of the International Criminal Court sued US President Trump and his government in New York Federal Court, accusing them of illegal sanctions.
The three female judges from Canada, Uganda and Benin said in their indictment that the sanctions imposed on them by the United States were aimed at punishing and coercing ICC judges.
A White House official said the sanctions were a legitimate exercise of Trump's authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. However, the three judges pointed out that the sanctions were beyond the authorized scope of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act and were not only illegal, but also based on a genuine national emergency or extraordinary threat.
In recent years, the United States has repeatedly imposed sanctions on judges and prosecutors of the International Criminal Court, citing the Court’s investigations into U.S. personnel and its issuance of arrest warrants against the Israeli Prime Minister and a former defense minister.
The ICC said in a statement in December that the sanctions were a "flagrant attack on the independence of an impartial judiciary" and that the ICC stood firmly behind its staff and victims of atrocities and would continue to fulfil its mandate.
