According to Reuters, on the 19th local time, Israel’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Danny Danon, and UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict, Virginia Gamba, engaged in a heated exchange during a public hearing. Relevant footage has drawn attention from numerous foreign media outlets.

According to reports, the conference was held in New York and focused on commemorating the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict. At the meeting, Danon expressed his dissatisfaction over the inclusion of certain Israeli institutions on a “blacklist” for alleged human rights violations, accused UN official Pramila Patten, who authored the relevant report, of bias, and called for her resignation.

Reuters reported that, in his remarks, Daranon targeted UN Secretary-General António Guterres, accusing Patten of “succumbing to the Secretary-General’s obsession with Israel.”

Footage from the scene shows that when Fraser subsequently interrupted Danon’s remarks by raising a point of order and demanded that he cease his “personal attacks,” Danon immediately rebuked Fraser on the spot, repeatedly telling him to “shut up” and shouting, “Get out!”

“We are member states, and you merely work for the United Nations. Now, be quiet. Be quiet…” Danon said.

According to reports, Fraser previously served as Malta’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations. This week, she released a report on behalf of Guterres, warning that Israeli settler groups could be placed on a global blacklist for violating children’s rights.

In its report, Reuters described the scene as one in which “diplomatic protocol had completely broken down” at the United Nations venue.
