Israeli army attacks Syria on several occasions, injuring civilians; Syria strongly condemns the move
On August 22, local time, the Syrian Transitional Government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement strongly condemning an Israeli drone strike that day on a civilian vehicle in the Beit Jin area of Rural Damascus Province, which left several civilians injured.

This photo, released by the Israel Defense Forces on November 28, 2025, shows Israeli troops engaged in combat in the Beit Jin area of southern Syria.
The statement said that this attack gravely violates Syria’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and blatantly contravenes international law. Israel’s continued incursions into Syrian territory will exacerbate regional tensions, undermine regional stability, and threaten civilian lives. Syria calls on the international community and the United Nations Security Council to fulfill their responsibilities and put an end to Israel’s ongoing violations of Syria’s sovereignty.
Earlier that day, the Israel Defense Forces issued a statement saying that Israeli forces had opened fire on an attacker in southern Syria who was in the “final stages of preparation.” The Israeli military stated that these individuals’ activities pose a “direct threat” to Israeli soldiers.
Recently, Israel has launched multiple attacks on Syria. On the 22nd, Israeli Defense Minister Katz issued a statement saying that the Israel Defense Forces’ airstrike on the Abu al-Zuhur military airport in northwestern Syria on the 18th was carried out because Israel had “clear intelligence” indicating that Turkey intended to take “actions that could endanger Israel’s security.” The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office also accused Syria of allowing Turkey to deploy troops on Syrian territory, posing a threat to Israel.
According to data from the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, in 2026 Israel launched 57 attacks on Syrian territory, including 6 airstrikes and 51 ground strikes.
On the 21st, Turkish Justice Minister Güllek stated that, as part of the judicial process, Turkey has requested Interpol to issue a “red notice” for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and others in connection with Israel’s armed intervention.
“Red Notices” are issued by INTERPOL at the request of member countries and must comply with INTERPOL’s Constitution and Rules. A Red Notice can simultaneously inform the police of all member states about a fugitive, but it is not legally binding. Each member state independently determines the legal效力 of a “Red Notice” and the authority of its law enforcement officers to effect arrests. Turkey and Israel are both members of the organization.
